About The Position

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation.
• Must successfully pass a drug screen; pre-employment drug testing is required, and a final offer is contingent on a negative result.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must certify registration with Selective Service.
• Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required.
• Meet the Facility Operations Specialist occupational requirement through relevant undergraduate or graduate study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration, or through qualifying specialized experience.
• For GS-11, qualify through one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent, qualifying doctoral or graduate education, or a combination of qualifying experience and education.
• GS-09-equivalent specialized experience includes maintaining and repairing facility systems, components, and structures; supporting preventive maintenance; monitoring repairs to electrical, door, fire-safety, and sprinkler systems; maintaining and repairing locks; or inspecting buildings for deficiencies, proper use, and regulatory compliance.
• Meet qualification requirements by the announcement's closing date.
• Submit a resume limited to two pages; only the first two pages will be reviewed if more are submitted.
• If currently or within the last five years a covered political appointee in the Executive Branch, disclose that information to the Human Resources Office.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant undergraduate or graduate study in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration.
• Experience managing maintenance programs, conducting contractor oversight of construction and maintenance, or performing maintenance or construction work and estimating project costs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure preventive maintenance is performed on building systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and control systems, and related components.
• Monitor preventive maintenance programs to help ensure the life expectancy of operational facilities.
• Repair building plumbing; low-voltage and line-voltage electrical systems; door hardware; fire and life-safety protection equipment and systems; sprinkler systems; and related hardware and software.
• Upgrade and maintain security systems.
