The purpose of this position is to support the nonimmigrant immigration needs of international students. The Immigration Coordinator works collaboratively within the Office of International Affairs, partners with colleagues across the university, and coordinates with federal agencies to ensure compliance with immigration regulations while providing exceptional support to international students. As a member of the International Student and Scholar team, the Immigration Coordinator serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 students. In this capacity, the coordinator advises international students on maintaining lawful nonimmigrant status through the evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of federal immigration regulations. The role also provides guidance on cross-cultural adjustment, student concerns, and resources that contribute to student success. The Immigration Coordinator is responsible for SEVIS-related activities, including student check-ins, event creation, reporting, and record maintenance in accordance with federal requirements. The position supports the university's academic mission by collaborating with academic departments and campus service units to address F-1 and J-1 immigration matters affecting student success. Additionally, the coordinator develops and delivers immigration-related programs and services, such as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) workshops, to educate and support international students. The role also contributes to the broader university community through committee participation and cross-functional collaboration.
