Director of People

AshbySan Francisco, CA
Remote

About The Position

This role is for an exceptional People Leader with experience building out the People function of a hyper-growth scale-up. The ideal candidate will have led a People team of approximately 15 or more and is excited to join an earlier-stage company to rebuild and expand the team. Initially, the role will lead an organization of about 6 people. This position offers the opportunity to work within HR technology, focusing on the intersection of People technology, process, and data. The role requires a deep commitment to excellence in the People function, with a willingness to be outspoken about well-founded perspectives and to constantly experiment with innovative HR practices. The Director of People will be a thought leader on the HR side of the People function, setting the foundation for scaling Ashby. This includes reviewing existing People practices, driving change for current and future needs, refining processes, selecting and implementing HR systems, data analytics, and documentation. Strong communication skills are essential for influencing scaled change across the company without causing disruption. Comfort with ambiguity is important as the role will evolve with Ashby's growth. Beyond core internal responsibilities, the role involves becoming an expert on Ashby's people technology suite to act as an external thought leader, engaging with customers and Product Managers, speaking at conferences, and writing content for People professionals and Hiring Managers.
