About The Position

Requirements

• Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Two years of full-time work experience in the care and maintenance of grounds and other landscaped areas; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Knowledge of care and cultivation of shrubs, flowers, trees, and lawns.
• Knowledge of use, care and operation of grounds maintenance equipment such as a power mower, edgers and trimmers, as well as hand tools used in grounds maintenance work.
• Ability to assign and supervise the work of others.
• Ability to keep time and attendance records.
• Ability to gain the cooperation of others.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to operate and use grounds maintenance equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to perform lifting, carrying and other manual work typical of the class.
• Possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
• Must meet PREA requirements: cannot have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution; cannot have been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; cannot have been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in such activity; cannot have been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in performing a variety of manual work in groundskeeping.
• Supervises the work of a crew in performing manual work in the cleaning, care and maintenance of landscaped grounds and adjacent areas.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
