About The Position

Performs comprehensive grounds maintenance services to preserve a safe, attractive, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

High School education or equivalency.
At least one year of landscape and/or grounds industry experience.
Knowledge of basic horticulture, landscape & hardscape maintenance and installation techniques, snow removal & deicing techniques, and athletic field maintenance.
Motor vehicle operator’s license.
Knowledge of safety practices associated with the operation of all equipment.
Current Pesticide Applicators License, Categories 6A, 6C & Core and knowledge of basic pesticides used in Grounds Management.
Ability to perform tasks in low, high, and tight spaces such as, on the ground, trees, and roofs.
Ability to use equipment such as ladders and aerial lifts to reach high places such as roofs and trees.
Ability to handle prolonged exposure to: Dirt, dust, grease, pesticides, petroleum products, and other chemicals. Climatic weather conditions – hot and cold outside temperatures. Equipment with moving parts and loud noise.
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. (50 lbs. on a regular basis), carry, reach, sit, write, climb, hear, pull, read, stand, drive, kneel, push, see, stoop, and walk.
Ability to compare, evaluate, interpret, organize, analyze, decide, inspect, measure, plan, work independently, calculate, diagnose, instruct, negotiate, problem solve.
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality.
Ability to work without supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative.
