Requirements

  • Minimum of four years' experience repairing heavy construction equipment preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing expert level mechanical repairs.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and other related components to troubleshoot and analyze unique and high level problems/issues quickly and improvise using logic and critical thinking skills to make needed repairs.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to repair Caterpillar and competitive components and machines.
  • Excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL.
  • Ability to become DOT certified with DOT Medical Card.
  • Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet business and customer demands.
  • Strong communication with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-direction and well organized.
  • Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years' relevant heavy equipment field experience is required to be eligible for the $5,000 sign-on bonus.
  • Candidates with less than 3 years’ heavy equipment field experience are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expert level troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders.
  • Service, diagnose and repair/rebuild all engine/components regardless of model/maker of equipment, including electrical, computers, and monitors at customer’s jobsite.
  • Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed.
  • Reassemble to factory specifications.
  • Interact with customers and answer repair-related questions as required.
  • Refer non-repair related questions to supervisor.
  • Perform heavy electrical and computer repairs.
  • Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins.
  • Inspect components removed from machines to determine their reusability.
  • Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms.
  • Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
