Life Cycle Engineer III

V2X•Orlando, FL

About The Position

V2X Engineering Solutions is seeking a Life Cycle Engineer III to perform life cycle analysis as part of a team supporting sustainment of customer training aids, devices, simulators and simulations, furnished property and instrumentation, targets, and threat simulations. The role helps ensure these systems remain mission capable for training events and exercises while driving system readiness, life cycle affordability, and long-term supportability for complex fielded systems. The engineer performs reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) modeling and analysis; assesses product life cycle performance using performance, maintenance, and environmental data; and recommends improvements to system availability and life cycle cost. The role also supports sustainment planning and deliverables, obsolescence and DMSMS management, FRACAS and reliability growth, systems engineering life cycle activities, and configuration management. The engineer works with systems engineering, logistics, supply chain, and program management teams to integrate sustainment considerations into system design and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; one year of related experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in reliability engineering, sustainment engineering, logistics engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with RAM analysis methods and tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets and present clear, actionable recommendations.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to customer and security requirements.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience performing life cycle sustainment and cost optimization, trade studies, and/or competing hardware design and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Experience with FRACAS, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and corrective action management.
  • Familiarity with obsolescence management, DMSMS best practices, and BOM health analysis.
  • Experience supporting DoW/DoD or other national security programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PowerBI.

Responsibilities

  • Perform RAM modeling and analysis to support life cycle assessments and readiness projections for fielded systems.
  • Analyze system performance, failure modes, and maintenance data to validate and refine RAM models.
  • Recommend design or support strategy improvements to increase system availability and reduce life cycle cost.
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of performance, maintenance, and environmental data across the product life cycle.
  • Identify downtime trends, drivers, and systemic issues to inform engineering changes, sustainment strategies, and process improvements.
  • Develop data-driven reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and customer reviews.
  • Conduct sustainment engineering activities, including parts consumption analysis, maintenance trend evaluation, sparing recommendations, and cost-optimized sustainment planning.
  • Develop and contribute to sustainment engineering deliverables, including Life Cycle Sustainment Reviews (LCSR), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), provisioning and sparing analyses, and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA).
  • Provide technical input to Integrated Product Support (IPS) planning and logistics support analysis.
  • Implement and lead the obsolescence management program for assigned systems.
  • Support Supply Chain and Program Management with the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) program.
  • Conduct bill of materials (BOM) health assessments and track technology refresh plans.
  • Identify alternative components, suppliers, or redesign strategies to mitigate obsolescence, TAA compliance, and supply risk.
  • Use GIDEP, industry databases, supplier inputs, and market intelligence to identify and address obsolescence risks.
  • Implement and manage a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Analyze failure data, perform root cause analysis, and track corrective actions through closure.
  • Drive reliability growth initiatives and recommend design, process, or support changes that improve system performance and availability.
  • Provide feedback to design, manufacturing, and sustainment teams to enhance system reliability.
  • Support systems engineering life cycle activities, including configuration management and requirements traceability.
  • Track system modifications, upgrades, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and technology refreshes throughout the life cycle.
  • Review and help update Technical Data Packages (TDPs) to ensure consistency with fielded configurations and approved changes.
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, logistics, supply chain, and program management teams to integrate sustainment considerations into design and upgrade decisions.
