About The Position
Formlabs is seeking a Senior 3D Print Optimization Engineer to improve the print performance of its SLA and SLS 3D printing platforms. The Print Optimization Team works across hardware, software, and materials to make printing faster, more reliable, easier, more accurate, and higher quality. The role involves understanding customer needs and identifying performance improvements that benefit customers, then developing and commercializing solutions with an immediate impact.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of post-graduate experience.
- Experience designing tests whose results affect product performance.
- Experience shipping a product or process to end users.
- A customer-focused approach.
- Strong ownership and attention to detail.
- Hands-on approach and willingness to cross discipline boundaries to solve problems.
- Ability to work autonomously and learn new skills to meet objectives.
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in any science or engineering discipline.
Nice To Haves
- Coding experience, ideally in Python.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD).
- Understanding of material properties and characterization.
- Participation in the release of a new product.
Responsibilities
- Push the capabilities of Formlabs' SLA and SLS 3D printing platforms.
- Architect 3D printing optimization methodologies that improve printer performance.
- Drive root cause analysis across mechanics, fluid dynamics, software, chemistry, optics, electronics, thermodynamics, and customer behavior.
- Design efficient experiments to reveal underlying behavior in systems with many variables.
- Tackle multidisciplinary problems.
- Develop and commercialize solutions that improve customer print performance.
