About The Position

Larson Design Group (LDG) is an award-winning, employee-owned Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting Firm serving clients nationwide. The Senior Civil Engineer is a technical leader who coordinates design activities and project submission schedules, performs final QA/QC reviews, and helps ensure project deliverables meet client requirements and goals. The role is also responsible for meeting established budgets and schedules. The position performs independent planning and design work, reviews others’ work, prepares construction documents, and delivers projects through completion. It works collaboratively across departments and project teams, applies relevant codes and standards, and develops schedules, technical proposals, labor-hour estimates, design budgets, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates. The Senior Engineer also supports quality assurance and quality control processes and provides guidance, training, and support to engineering associates and interns. The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant engineering field from an ABET-accredited school, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, and at least 12 years of job-related experience. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with engineering design software and Microsoft Office, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a position-relevant engineering field from an ABET-accredited school.
  • At least 12 years of job-related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Desire to expand engineering knowledge and take on new responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation/InRoads, and/or hydrologic and hydraulic software packages for site layout, grading, utility, and storm water management plan design, or other discipline-specific programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively on a project team.
  • Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams in delivering innovative, client-focused solutions.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with commitment to technical excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent planning and design tasks, review the work of others, prepare construction documents, and deliver projects to completion.
  • Demonstrate experience with technically complex projects.
  • Maintain collaborative interdepartmental and cross-functional relationships with project team members.
  • Apply knowledge of codes and standards applicable to project design.
  • Perform final QA/QC reviews of project submissions.
  • Develop schedules, technical proposals, and labor-hour estimates.
  • Work with project teams to describe and deliver the scope of work effectively.
  • Promote, use, and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
  • Perform and check design calculations, prepare technical specifications, and prepare cost estimates.
  • Develop and maintain design budgets for complex scopes of work.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to engineering associates and interns to foster technical skills, design intuition, and professional growth.
