About The Position

Requirements

• Experience conducting research using statistical, accounting, and/or financial analysis.
• Experience evaluating companies using financial statements and other sources.
• Knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.
• Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
• Ability to effectively use visual aids such as charts and graphs.
• Database creation and manipulation skills.
• Knowledge of statistical methods.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using VBA, macros, C# or C++ to enhance work product.
• Experience using a statistical analysis software such as R, Python, SPSS, eViews, Salesforce, Tableau, or a like program.
• An understanding of labor unions and their structure.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and present research reports on industry and economic issues relevant to the Teamsters Union and its affiliates.
• Estimate costs of contracts.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for contract negotiations, organizing campaigns, and other strategic projects.
• Collaborate with department colleagues, other organizational staff, and Teamsters affiliates to develop research goals, analyze research, and communicate findings.
• Provide actionable intelligence on economic conditions for contract costing and negotiations.
• Evaluate company performance and other data related to negotiations using financial data such as profit and loss statements, annual financial reports, and budgets.
• Effectively use visual aids such as charts and graphs to communicate findings.
• Create and manipulate databases.
• Apply knowledge of statistical methods.
• Assist in the day-to-day guidance, training, and development of other department staff.
• Travel for meetings, conferences, and negotiations.
