About The Position

The Teamsters Union is seeking a Senior Economic Analyst to join their Strategic Initiatives Department, Analytics Team. This role will lead projects, design and present research reports, estimate contract costs, and serve as a subject-matter expert for contract negotiations, organizing campaigns, and other strategic projects. The research will cover industry and economic issues relevant to the Teamsters Union and its affiliates. The Senior Analyst will collaborate with colleagues, organizational staff, and affiliates to develop research goals, analyze findings, and communicate results. For contract costing and negotiations, the role involves providing actionable intelligence on economic conditions, evaluating company performance using financial data (profit and loss statements, annual financial reports, budgets), and utilizing visual aids like charts and graphs. Database creation, manipulation, and knowledge of statistical methods are crucial. The position also involves providing day-to-day guidance, training, and development to other department staff. Travel for meetings, conferences, and negotiations is required. The position is based in Washington, DC, and requires full-time in-person work at the DC headquarters.

Requirements

  • Experience conducting research using statistical, accounting, and/or financial analysis.
  • Experience evaluating companies using financial statements and other sources.
  • Knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing.
  • Ability to effectively use visual aids such as charts and graphs.
  • Database creation and manipulation skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using VBA, macros, C# or C++ to enhance work product.
  • Experience using a statistical analysis software such as R, Python, SPSS, eViews, Salesforce, Tableau, or a like program.
  • An understanding of labor unions and their structure.

Responsibilities
