About The Position

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia is seeking a Director of Security & Safety to lead the pre-opening strategy, planning, and setup of the Security department. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive security, safety, and risk management programs, establishing policies and emergency response protocols, and recruiting and training a high-performing Security team. The Director will conduct risk assessments, oversee physical security operations, and partner with resort leadership to ensure a safe and secure environment. Key responsibilities include building relationships with local authorities, leading crisis management and emergency preparedness, monitoring security trends, managing departmental budgets, and investigating incidents. The position requires a leader who can thrive in a fast-paced pre-opening environment while maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism, and discretion.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience as a Director of Security or senior Security leader within a luxury hotel or resort environment.
  • Strong expertise in security operations, risk management, crisis response, and emergency planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Thorough understanding of hotel security systems, surveillance technology, access control, and investigative procedures.
  • Experience working closely with government agencies, law enforcement, and emergency response organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, fire life safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced pre-opening environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism, and discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous pre-opening experience in a luxury hospitality setting is highly preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the pre-opening strategy, planning, and setup of the Security department.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security, safety, and risk management programs across the resort.
  • Establish security policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols in line with Four Seasons standards and local regulations.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing Security team.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures to safeguard guests, employees, assets, and reputation.
  • Oversee all physical security operations, including access control, surveillance systems, investigations, and incident management.
  • Partner with resort leadership to ensure a safe and secure environment throughout all phases of the pre-opening and ongoing operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local law enforcement, emergency services, and government authorities.
  • Lead crisis management, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Monitor security trends, threats, and regulatory requirements, ensuring the resort remains compliant and proactive.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, resources, and security technology investments.
  • Investigate incidents, produce detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate future risks.
