About The Position

Requirements

• Two years of experience as a dental assistant.
• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credential required from the State of Texas.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for local Austin-area travel.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the business community.
• Ability to interpret, apply, and explain regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to plan and organize assigned programs and activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
• Ability to use spreadsheet, word-processing, database, and presentation software.
• Knowledge of accepted principles, practices, and trends in the program served; applicable sections of the State Education Code; curricula; policies, regulations, and the educational master plan; local labor-market conditions and population demographics; teaching principles and techniques; and academic-subject requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with catalog descriptions and course outlines, supporting students in achieving course objectives.
• Advise students of the instructor-established requirements for meeting course objectives.
• Periodically assess and inform students of their progress toward course objectives.
• Prepare and administer examinations established for the assigned subject area.
• Research and recommend revisions, deletions, or additions to programs and courses to reflect developments in the subject area.
• Participate in evaluations of curriculum and instruction.
• Participate in the evaluation of instructional materials.
• Maintain regular office hours and assist with curriculum development and planning.
• Follow safety rules, report unsafe conditions and behavior, and take reasonable actions to prevent unsafe practices.
