About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or four additional years of related experience.
• Two years of recent experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
• Five years of experience in a healthcare-related field.
• Additional certifications may be required based on assigned work area(s) upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience in an acute-care hospital setting preferred.
• Master's degree in a healthcare-related field.
• Stroke Coordinator background strongly preferred.
• Management experience and/or experience with risk, implementation of HPI, and cause analysis.
• Experience in healthcare quality, accreditation, and/or patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the facility-wide patient safety program for Petaluma Valley Hospital and Healdsburg Hospital.
• Facilitate process-improvement teams focused on reducing healthcare errors and unintended adverse patient outcomes.
• Provide leadership for safety assessments and coordinate high-reliability activities.
• Educate staff about system-based causes of critical, sentinel, or high-harm events.
• Consult with management and staff and communicate evidence-based patient-safety strategies.
• Collaborate with clinical leaders and medical staff to improve patient safety and reduce patient harm and errors.
• Support implementation of reliable care practices and development of an institutional patient-safety culture.
• Assist or co-lead accreditation activities, including on-site surveys and investigations.
• Fill in during absences of the Director of Clinical Excellence.
• Facilitate the good catch committee and participate in other assigned committees.
• Provide professional, comprehensive nursing care in an acute-care environment.
