About The Position

Requirements

• GED or high school diploma.
• Washington State Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C).

Nice To Haves

• Behavioral health or rehabilitation experience.
• Six months of experience working as a medical assistant in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and explain program policy to clients as needed.
• Plan professional and therapeutic responses or interventions in client-care situations.
• Support clients’ academic and social education, including conducting health education classes and teaching health-related topics.
• Help clients meet health and safety needs in accordance with recovery goals and program policies.
• Assess and report client concerns regarding physical and psychological needs.
• Administer medications within scope of practice and in accordance with RCW 18.360.050.
• Assist with setting up client clinics and telehealth clinics.
• Attend department staff meetings and other meetings as directed, and meet with program staff, consultants, and volunteers as needed.
• Provide written observations for residents’ Individual Service Plans and review processes.
• Provide written and verbal shift reports and communicate with interdisciplinary team members.
• Document behaviors, physical signs and symptoms, psychological needs, medication delivery, ongoing assessment needs, treatment progress, and health and safety issues according to program policy.
• Participate in treatment-plan implementation as directed.
• Stock, maintain, and inventory supplies, and assist with ordering them.
• Follow physician orders and receive and transcribe written physician orders in accordance with program policy.
• Assist physicians with clinical duties.
• Perform and monitor resident vital signs and perform urine drug screens.
• Perform intramuscular and subcutaneous injections within scope of practice.
• Perform TB testing, aseptic wound care, blood draws, and ear lavage.
• Assist with nursing treatment and care planning, and request nursing consultations.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment, including cleaning and disposing of equipment and supplies according to policy and procedures.
• Maintain medication storage, place orders, and return residents’ medication according to pharmacy services policies.
• Promote and model teamwork and collaboration with coworkers.
