Medical Assistant (Cardiology)

About The Position

As a Medical Assistant, you will be the first contact for patient care, responsible for administrative responsibilities in addition to patient care. Working onsite in a clinical environment and reporting to the Center Administrator, you will perform varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments. This is a FLOAT position and will require you to work between offices as needs require. Mileage for travel between clinics will be reimbursed.

Requirements

  • An active Certified Medical Assistant/CMA or Registered Medical Assistant/RMA certification from one of the following organizations: AAH, AAMA, AMT, ARMA, MedCa, NAHP, NAHT, NCCT, or NHA
  • Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of MA experience
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • CPR Certified
  • Patient facing role

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in a PCO center
  • Value-based Care experience includes knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience
  • Advanced Phlebotomy experience
  • 1+ years of experience working in a cardiologist office
  • 1 or more years of experience
  • 2 + years of previous experience as a Certified / Registered Medical Assistance
  • Willing to cross train in other roles based on business need
  • Previous experience with medical "front office" responsibilities
  • Experience with HEDIS
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Previous experience in a geriatric setting
  • Rad Tech License (AART)

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical tasks such as pre-visit planning based on patient visit type
  • Obtain and record medical history and vital signs
  • Room patients and assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and treatments
  • Perform specimen collection and point of care testing
  • Prepare and administer medication under the direction of a healthcare provider
  • Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (HER) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including documentation of HEDIS and Stars quality measures
  • Run the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program
