About The Position

The 5 South Medical Unit at Corewell Health consists of 33 head walls, with all rooms being shared. The unit is equipped with one negative pressure room and two single rooms to accommodate patients needing private rooms. The average census is between 29-32 patients, and patients requiring frequent safety checks are monitored through a video monitoring system. The unit can accept patients needing telemetry and practices patient and family-centered care, coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team. They are certified and skilled to perform peritoneal dialysis. Troy Hospital is recognized by US News & World Report for its orthopedics and urological services and ranked #3 on Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals list. This state-of-the-art center provides advanced specialty and routine care with an emphasis on patient satisfaction and medical advancement.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
  • Current CNA certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
  • Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
  • Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
  • Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
