About The Position

Requirements

• Master's of Science in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner)
• Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration (for Nurse Practitioner)
• Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (for Nurse Practitioner)
• Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers (for Nurse Practitioner)
• Emergency Department experience as a Nurse Practitioner (for Nurse Practitioner)
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program (for Physician Assistant)
• Certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure / registration (for Physician Assistant)
• Emergency Department experience (for Physician Assistant)

Responsibilities

• See large volumes of patients each day, with a primary focus on Emergency Severity Index's 3-5, simple laceration repairs, digital blocks, slit-lamp eye exams, pelvic exams, and splinting
• Remain flexible as the ED volumes fluctuate
• Responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management
• Manage a caseload of patients by exercising autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments
• Provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support
• Complete administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership
• Assist the physician through organized instruction and supervised practice
• Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness
• Pre and post-operative patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests
• Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services
