About the position
The job overview for this role is that the Trust & Safety team at DonorsChoose is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure experience for teachers and donors on the website. The team develops policies, systems, and processes to prevent fraud, investigate potential misuse, and protect the integrity of the organization's mission. As a critical member of the team, the role involves analyzing data, informing strategic decisions, influencing policies and processes, understanding user impact, informing product decisions, and managing org-wide projects. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical, project management, and communication skills, as well as a passion for driving racial equity in education.
Responsibilities
- Own and develop reporting on Trust & Safety health metrics
- Inform strategic decisions by analyzing data and developing insights
- Influence policies and processes to reduce manual effort and uphold mission integrity
- Understand user impact of policies and conduct analysis for actionable insights
- Inform product decisions by using data and research to generate ideas and identify areas of opportunity
- Manage org-wide projects related to Trust & Safety improvements
- Evaluate and prioritize user risk for new internal initiatives
- Investigate risky patterns and recommend integrity measures to prevent them
- Identify opportunities for more efficient risk monitoring processes
- Create and track Trust & Safety health metrics and set targets
- Evaluate risk of funding opportunities and create monitoring processes
- Drive analytics projects from inception through execution
- Influence decision makers and create data-backed recommendations
- Proficient in BI tools such as Looker and SQL
- Experience working with large datasets
- Balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders
- Excellent communicator and collaborator

Requirements
- Proven ability to drive analytics projects from inception through execution in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated experience influencing decision makers of varying levels and creating recommendations backed by data
- Proficient in one or multiple BI tools such as Looker
- Proficient in SQL
- Demonstrated experience working with large datasets
- Experience and enjoyment in understanding and balancing the needs of diverse stakeholders
- Excellent communicator and enjoys forging meaningful collaborative relationships with colleagues
- Organized and agile, able to balance multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter who advocates for the best results for stakeholders while being a team player
- Curious, creative, empathetic, and open to sharing and learning from mistakes
- Results-driven with the ability to create goals for projects and care about the outcomes
- Eager to drive racial equity in education and comfortable speaking about race personally and/or professionally
- Firm understanding of Trust & Safety techniques, preferably with expertise in a two-sided marketplace (not required)
- Legal or law enforcement experience (not required)
- Investigations experience (in the broadest sense) such as investigating chargeback requests, account misuse, promo abuse, violation of Terms of Use, etc. (not required)
- Experience using Zendesk (not required)
- Experience in K-12 (not required)

- Competitive compensation with a salary range of $81,500 - $94,500
- Higher salary range of $90,500 - $104,500 for specific locations
