About the position
DonorsChoose is seeking a Product Designer to join their Product, Engineering, and Data team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing clear and innovative solutions for the website, developing new features, and contributing to the company's position as a leader in crowdfunding. The role involves the entire product development lifecycle, from understanding user needs and analyzing metrics to prototyping, coding, shipping, and iterating. The Product Designer will collaborate with User Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to address user problems and enhance the on-site experience for donors and public school teachers, ultimately impacting educational outcomes for students across the US.
Responsibilities
- Execute clear, thoughtful design solutions for the DonorsChoose website
- Develop new features for the website
- Push DonorsChoose as an innovator in the crowdfunding space
- Define the work by listening to users and analyzing metrics
- Ideate and prototype potential solutions
- Assist in building the website by writing front-end code (HTML, CSS, JS)
- Ship the product and analyze its performance
- Iterate on the product as needed
- Work with User Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to design solutions to user problems
- Create prototypes and validate solutions with User Research team
- Have 3+ years of experience designing products for web
- Have strong front-end coding skills (HTML, CSS, JS)
- Appreciate data and user research to inform design decisions
- Simplify complexity
- Advocate for your point of view while being open to having your mind changed
- Have a passion for education, equity, or social good
Requirements
- 3+ years of full-time experience designing products for web (mobile and desktop)
- Strong front-end coding chops (HTML, CSS, JS)
- An appreciation for data and user research to inform design decisions

- Competitive compensation with a salary range of $72,000 - $81,000
- Higher salary range of $80,000 - $90,000 for specific higher cost of labor locations
