About The Position

Requirements

• Entry-level role; 0 to 3 years of proven experience as a utility locator or SUE Technician.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to walk outdoors for long periods over varied terrain and work under adverse conditions, including heat, cold, hills, swamps, wildlife, insects, and high-traffic areas.
• Ability to travel daily; occasional overnight travel is required.
• Ability to work more than 50 hours during busy periods.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and operate equipment as needed on a project.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work unsupervised when required.
• Background and motor vehicle checks and pre-employment drug screening are conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent preferred.
• Specialized training from a vocational-technical school or experience as a rod person/instrument person.
• Experience as a utility locator or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of underground utility systems and ability to interpret maps and records.
• Familiarity with utility locating equipment such as electromagnetic locators and ground-penetrating radar.
• Current Commercial Driver’s License.
• Self-motivation and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Motivation to learn and develop a career path.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use maps, records, and other resources to accurately locate underground utility lines.
• Learn to use Subsurface Utility Engineering field equipment and other geophysical methods while following safety protocols, industry standards, and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of utility locations and updates.
• Conduct regular inspections and assessments to identify potential hazards or issues.
• Assist with maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and work sites.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
