About The Position

USIC is hiring a Utility Locator to perform underground utility damage-prevention work in the field. Locators independently travel to work sites in a company-provided vehicle and use ticket and claims management systems to provide clear, complete mark-out services for excavators and property owners. No prior locating experience is required; experienced locators are also encouraged to apply. USIC provides training and opportunities for advancement.

This is an on-site, daytime, full-time position in Forney, Texas. Because many locates have a 48-hour turnaround time, employees generally work the day after holidays and some weekends as needed. Overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts—including nights and weekends—may be required depending on business needs.

Requirements

• Be able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Be proficient with technology.
• Be available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Pass a drug screen; this is a safety-sensitive position.
• Have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Be able to work in a confined space, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Be able to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Be able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Be able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently locate underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Search designated areas for underground utilities and accurately mark their locations.
• Complete required documentation and photograph each locate.
