About The Position
WCF Insurance, an "A" rated carrier growing throughout the western states, has an immediate opening for a Commercial Underwriter on the Small Business team in the Denver, CO area. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Underwriting and offers the opportunity for hybrid work (Tuesday through Thursday in-office). We are looking for someone who embodies WCF's core values: doing the right thing, being great at your job, and helping others succeed.
Requirements
- At least three years commercial underwriting experience in all business lines
- Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications.
- Experience with loss sensitive rating programs.
- Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills.
- Must have 5 years of related experience for the senior level.
Nice To Haves
- CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, marketing, business, or equivalent experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal account risks.
- Manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention.
- Initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits.
- Provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium.
