About The Position

Wethersfield High School has an opening for a Tutor for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated professional with strong communication and collaboration skills to provide targeted academic intervention and instructional support for students in grades 9-12. The selected candidate will begin on August 26, 2026, and serve through the end of the school year (June 2027). The Tutor is an integral member of Wethersfield High School's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and works collaboratively with teachers, interventionists, counselors, curriculum specialists, and administrators to support student success. Through individualized support, small-group intervention, and classroom support, the Tutor helps students strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and make meaningful progress toward grade-level expectations and mastery of learning goals.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Knowledge of intervention strategies in literacy and/or mathematics.
  • Ability to collect, monitor, and communicate student progress.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Teacher certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted one-on-one and small-group academic intervention.
  • Deliver push-in classroom support and individualized instruction based on student needs.
  • Implement intervention plans and instructional activities aligned with district curriculum and MTSS goals.
  • Support student understanding of academic concepts across all subject areas.
  • Reinforce foundational academic and fluency skills to promote grade-level achievement.
  • Foster positive relationships that build student confidence, perseverance, and academic independence.
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that is responsive to individual student needs and promotes academic growth.
  • Monitor student progress toward academic and intervention goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation, interventions, and progress.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate student performance data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Share student progress, successes, challenges, and recommendations with teachers, counselors, interventionists, curriculum specialists, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, curriculum specialists, counselors, and administrators to coordinate and implement student intervention plans.
  • Participate in MTSS meetings and other collaborative planning meetings to review student progress and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Adjust instructional strategies and interventions based on student performance data and team recommendations.
  • Communicate regularly with staff to ensure coordinated, consistent support for students across instructional settings.
