About The Position

This role involves performing basic solar operational and maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, manual mowing, tooling maintenance, inspections, basic preventative maintenance, snow plowing/shoveling, basic lockout/tagout procedures, component replacement, and equipment hauling. Under direct guidance, assist with higher-level solar field duties. Candidates who do not meet all Solar Technician 2 qualifications but meet Solar Technician 1 requirements may be considered and hired at the Solar Technician 1 level.

Requirements

  • High School / GED
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State
  • Internal bidders will not be required to pass the CAST or MAT (Mechanical Aptitude Test) to be an eligible bidder.
  • Passing a prequalification test will be required to obtain the Solar Technician II position prior to being eligible to accept and report to the position (if bidding from a higher classification).
  • In addition to passing a prequalification test, individuals must have been in the Solar Technician I role for a minimum of one (1) year prior to being eligible to accept and report to the position (if bidding from a lower or equal classification).
  • Upon Hire (for Solar Technician II)

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition.
  • Provides basic inspection of electrical and mechanical components of solar arrays.
  • Performs tracker system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Performs basic DC system maintenance.
  • Performs basic Lockout/Tagout activities.
  • Performs basic PM work, corrective work, and component replacement on photovoltaic & inverter Systems.
  • Snowplows as required to access components.
  • Performs manual mowing of solar fields.
  • Maintains solar farm maintenance records in specified work management system across multiple devices.
  • Assists Solar Technician I and the Lead Solar Technician to perform other related duties as assigned that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation, maintenance, and advancement of photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage System assets.
  • Performs AC system troubleshooting and maintenance (Solar Technician II).
  • Performs Battery Energy Storage System troubleshooting and maintenance (Solar Technician II).
  • Implements all Lockout/Tagout procedures (Solar Technician II).
  • Provides basic inspection of electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting for solar arrays and Battery Energy Storage Systems (Solar Technician II).
  • Performs AC/DC System Maintenance and Troubleshooting (Solar Technician II).
  • Performs PM work, corrective work, and component replacement on Battery Energy Storage & photovoltaic systems (Solar Technician II).
  • Performs Breaker Racking & Troubleshooting (Solar Technician II).
  • Performs Lockout/Tagout implementation (Solar Technician II).
