About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Upon hire, unless already completed, enroll in at least 3 units of Early Childhood Education at an accredited college or university per semester until 12 units are successfully completed with a grade of C or better.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificates, including a total of 15 hours of preventative health and safety training, or completion of this training within 90 days of hire.
• LiveScan fingerprinting and criminal record clearance.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Early Childhood classroom experience is preferred; volunteer or paid experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementing curriculum within established guidelines, and prepare supplies and equipment for program activities.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Promote children’s individual growth and exploration, recognize their needs, and provide opportunities to enrich their development.
• Care for children’s health and well-being; provide first aid when necessary and promptly report incidents or injuries to parents, the director, and the branch as appropriate.
• Use appropriate, consistent, age-appropriate discipline methods that reinforce positive behavior.
• Report and document notable behavior and situations to the appropriate supervisor according to policies and procedures.
• Maintain verbal and non-verbal communication with school personnel, families, children, parents, and community agencies; explain program standards and policies; and provide parents ongoing feedback about children’s development, including through conferences and assessments.
• Maintain required program records.
• Attend and actively participate in scheduled program activities, department trainings, staff meetings, and special events.
• Keep the center clean and presentable.
• Ensure licensing standards and regulations are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
