Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in developing and integrating vehicle safety systems, body structures and occupant protection systems covering all phases of development (design, testing, launch).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of vehicle safety principles, regulations, and standards
  • Strong technical skills and expertise in Vehicle Safety employing a 1st Principles approach to problem-solving
  • Familiarity with computer aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organization levels

Responsibilities

  • Lead Safety Strategy Meeting
  • Maintain Vehicle Level Safety Targets/Status
  • Local Safety Health Chart
  • USNCAP Targets/Status
  • IIHS Targets/Status
  • Competitive Benchmarking for performance, design and efficiency
  • Signoff Planning
  • Generate and own signoff plan / CDP
  • Identification of crash families, worst case variants etc
  • Drive efficient vehicle, sled and CAE signoff plan
  • Secure safety cross functional team alignment
  • Identify risks and opportunities and risk management strategies
  • Own & track vehicle, sled, and component test plans mapped to program timing
  • Define vehicle count and rehit strategy
  • Support prototype planning workstream
  • Track test issues to closure
