About The Position

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant to join a rapidly growing Head & Neck Oncology Program. Conveniently located on Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Sarasota, the hired Physician Assistant will join two PAs and two Surgeons. This is a full-time position with a primary focus in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include comprehensive chart prep for new patient evaluation, seeing pre-ops and post-ops, acting as triage for cancer referrals, and management of survivorship. The role also involves tumor board participation, consultation, outside ED admission coordination, and following up on imaging. There is one weekend per month of hospital rounding required, and the ability to float to the OR for vacation coverage as needed. Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) – Sarasota is an 897-bed hospital recognized for its quality of care and patient experience. It is the only hospital in Sarasota County providing Level II Trauma, Level III NICU, and pediatric and behavioral health services for all ages. The Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute, located on the Sarasota campus, offers private suites for hospitalized cancer patients, state-of-the-art operating rooms with a dedicated robotic surgery suite, and integrative care services. A new Outpatient Cancer Pavilion is set to open in June 2026, expanding capabilities in radiation oncology, surgical, and medical oncology to support multidisciplinary care. SMH-Sarasota has consistently received a 5-star rating from CMS for 10 consecutive years and has been recognized by U.S. News, Leapfrog, Newsweek, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (Magnet recognition), and Becker’s Hospital Review.

Requirements

  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.
  • Graduate with a master’s degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college.
  • Licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
  • Demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive chart prep for new patient evaluation.
