Physician Assistant - Pre-Surgical EMG

SolutionHealth•Manchester, NH

About The Position

The Physician Assistant will provide pre-surgical evaluation and optimization for patients at Elliot Hospital. The position includes reviewing medical and surgical histories; assessing risks that could contribute to anesthesia complications; performing physical and psychosocial assessments; and interpreting laboratory values, cardiac and pulmonary testing, and diagnostic imaging. When a clinical evaluation identifies a need for additional medical optimization, the provider will perform appropriate interventions and reassess their effectiveness. The provider will follow anesthesia pre-operative guidelines and additional workup requests from individual surgeons. The role includes supporting nursing staff who identify potential pre-surgical concerns and assisting medical office staff with chart reviews. When specialty input is needed to clear a patient for surgery, the provider will arrange consultations and follow up on recommendations. The provider collaborates closely with anesthesia and, when needed, with primary care and specialty providers, including hematology, neurology, pulmonology, nephrology, rheumatology, and cardiology. Pertinent patient findings must be communicated to anesthesia and surgeons before surgery. The provider also assesses patients’ understanding of the anesthesia and surgical plans and provides education when indicated.
