About The Position
Elliot Health System is seeking a Psychiatrist to join its Behavioral Health Consult Liaison team. The role provides consultative psychiatric care across a 296-bed acute care hospital, including inpatient consultations for adult medical and surgical units, maternity services, and pediatric patients. The psychiatrist also supports Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners in the Emergency Department with complex cases. The position is part of the Elliot Behavioral Health Service Line, which offers a continuum of psychiatric care. Elliot Hospital includes a 6-bed secure psychiatric emergency unit, a 16-bed adult inpatient behavioral health unit serving voluntary and involuntary patients, and a 29-bed geropsychiatry unit. The ambulatory behavioral health team includes an outpatient practice staffed by six psychiatrists, three psychiatric nurse practitioners, and ten therapists delivering care through a hybrid model. The position offers a 7-on/7-off schedule. A Psychiatry-wide call rotation includes remote calls to the Adult Inpatient Unit and Emergency Department. The role provides exposure to a diverse patient population in an inpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient psychiatric consultations for adult medical and surgical units.
- Provide psychiatric consultations for maternity services and pediatric patients.
- Support Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners in the Emergency Department with complex cases.
- Participate in the Psychiatry call rotation, including remote calls to the Adult Inpatient Unit and Emergency Department.
