The Maintenance Mechanic I is a knowledgeable repair person focused on keeping equipment in the RDC fully operational. This role requires exposure to and experience with RDC systems and building components. The Maintenance Mechanic I possesses specialist knowledge and complex repair capability in one of three areas: conveyors, rolling stock, or building, along with general knowledge and basic repair capability in the other two. The individual must have sufficient electrical and mechanical knowledge to safely and independently repair equipment in the RDC. This role involves integrating trade skills, classroom knowledge, and systems experience to recognize and diagnose equipment issues, determine necessary repairs, prioritize and plan work, obtain appropriate spare parts, and execute repairs. The Maintenance Mechanic I is also capable of mentoring a Maintenance Utility and seeks assistance from a Maintenance Mechanic II or the Maintenance Supervisor when necessary.
