About The Position

The Supervisor-RN Radiation Medicine (Referral Office) is responsible for providing operational leadership and oversight for a high call-volume radiation medicine referral office which covers intake, referral, authorization, and scheduling. Coordinates daily activities to ensure timely patient access to care, efficient workflow management, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient-centered service. Serves as a clinical and operational resource to referral coordinators, intake specialists, and scheduling staff, providing real-time guidance, problem resolution, and support for complex patient access, referral, scheduling, insurance authorization, and financial clearance processes. Collaborates with physicians, clinical teams, patient financial services, insurance payers, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders to promote seamless coordination of care and optimize patient outcomes. Assists with schedule development, productivity management, employee development, orientation and training, performance management, quality improvement initiatives, compliance oversight, survey readiness, and human resource functions. Supports departmental and organizational strategic goals related to quality, patient experience, employee engagement, operational excellence, and financial stewardship. Monitors operational and quality metrics, analyzing performance data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and presenting actionable recommendations to leadership and quality committees. Fosters a culture of safety, continuous learning, accountability, collaboration, and continuous performance improvement while ensuring adherence to all regulatory, accreditation, organizational, and patient safety standards. Through effective leadership, mentorship, and resource management, this role promotes high-performing teams, exceptional customer service, efficient, and compassionate customer service throughout the radiation medicine continuum. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Minimum three (3) years clinical experience required, preferably in oncology or outpatient care.
  • Minimum one (1) year leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Radiation Medicine, treatments and pretreatment procedures/tests.
  • Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, insurance regulations, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidence-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care, and nursing scope of practice required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of staff.
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles.
  • Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; operate/troubleshoot patient care equipment required for the position.
  • Able to communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (and Spanish preferred) in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Radiation oncology or referral experience preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association preferred.
