The Freight Operations Supervisor will lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations. This role involves developing and implementing strategic work procedures, evaluating and assigning workloads, and supervising hourly staff. The supervisor will ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions, and will plan employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and lower costs. They will enforce all company policies, rules, regulations, and laws, and implement applicable workplace policies and procedures to optimize network performance. A key responsibility is ensuring customer freight is processed, handled, loaded, and delivered timely and damage-free. The role includes coaching and developing employees, conducting new hire evaluations, and determining corrective actions. The supervisor will direct a team to meet productivity goals, make recommendations regarding hiring and termination, and develop action plans to improve load average and model compliance. Participation in internal safety and engagement committees, training employees on safety rules, and monitoring working conditions of tools and equipment are also part of the role. The supervisor will act as a champion of XPO values and work to minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading, headloads, and sector loading while maintaining quality standards.
