About The Position

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) for their Tucson Campus, serving students in grades K-3rd and 6th-12th for the 26/27 school year. AZACS is an award-winning organization recognized for its innovation in education and providing transformational experiences through unique individualized learning programs for autism charter schools. This role operates under the supervision and direction of a Speech Language Pathologist.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Speech Pathology
  • Certified SLPA in the State of Arizona
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
  • Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering services in a school setting, in a classroom integration model, is preferred
  • Minimum of two years SLPA experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of student communication strategies
  • Moving students toward progress on IEP goals
  • Tracking progress towards the goal and assisting with the completion of progress reports
  • Engaging in data-driven instruction and therapy
  • Implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies
  • Implement goals identified on student IEPs related to Speech and Language in the areas of Expressive Language Skills and Receptive Language Skills
  • Support for students with Augmentative Communication Devices
  • Support classroom curriculum as it relates to language acquisition
  • Follow school-wide systems, rules, and positive behavior interventions
  • Deliver services in a classroom integration model
  • Coach the classroom staff on the implementation of speech/language therapy goals
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students and families
  • Responsible for paperwork compliance with data collections relating to IEP goals
  • Accountability for growth and proficiency on IEP goals
  • Participate in annual and ongoing staff training
  • Provide training for new SLPAs under the guidance and supervision of the SLP
  • Conduct no less than 2 professional development sessions per year on sensory under the guidance and supervision of the SLP
  • Provide opportunities for shadowing, coaching, and modeling throughout the year for Tier 3 SLPAs that require additional support with guidance and supervision from the SLP
  • Complete Medicaid billing
  • Additional duties as assigned
