About The Position
The Scientist, Large Molecule performs laboratory analysis of pharmaceutical drug substances and drug products in an R&D setting, working with a team to test routine large molecule products. This is a fully onsite role at a customer site in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Applicants from anywhere in the United States are welcome, but relocation assistance is not provided and relocation costs are the candidate’s responsibility. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and must pass a comprehensive background check that includes drug screening. The role is part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s clinical research business and its Laboratories Functional Service Partnership team, which provides long-term support within customer organizations to advance drug development. Work is performed under GxP standards and current GSK policies and procedures. The working schedule is standard Monday through Friday in a laboratory setting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a similar field, plus experience comparable to 2–4 years; or a master’s degree plus experience comparable to 1 or more years.
- A combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience may be considered as an equivalency.
- Familiarity with chromatography and separation techniques, such as HPLC, cIEF, and CE.
- Familiarity with chromatography software such as Empower or OpenLab CDS.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other applications to perform tasks.
- Experience preparing samples for qualitative and quantitative analytical testing.
- Familiarity with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
- Familiarity with compendial testing and regulatory guidelines, such as ICH, USP, and EP.
- Familiarity with GxP and ALCOA++.
- Ability to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
- Ability to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in non-traditional work environments.
- Ability to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.
- Ability to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check that includes drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex laboratory activities, including sample analysis.
- Ensure proper storage of samples and maintain sample and reagent inventories.
- Perform analytical work in accordance with protocols.
- Train on Labware, IDBS, Empower, and analytical techniques.
- Document data in accordance with current GSK policies and procedures.
- Perform peer review of data in a timely manner.
- Work to GxP standards.
- Follow safe laboratory practices, including waste disposal and hazard identification.
- Attend regular safety training.
- Assist with equipment troubleshooting as needed.
- Assist with lab cleanouts when scheduled.
- Complete all required training in a timely manner.
