This position manages the day-to-day operations for nursing staff and nursing activities for outpatient departments, including patient care, record keeping, and personnel issues. The role is responsible for implementing the mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives of the organization and the nursing/clinical services within their area(s). The RN Manager is accountable for the management of unit(s) or area(s) within an outpatient care setting and supports the nursing staff in performing their clinical roles. This includes monitoring patient care areas for cleanliness and readiness, assigning patients to staff based on condition and skill level, and participating in interdisciplinary committees and shared governance councils. The role promotes the philosophy and goals of the organization, fosters team relationships, and enhances outpatient practices. The manager oversees and assists with scheduling, manages productivity levels, and may fill in for clinical support staff during staffing gaps. They are responsible for developing trusting relationships with staff and patients, assisting with training and development of staff, and measuring employee performance. Maintaining current certifications and tracking staff certifications are also key responsibilities. The manager oversees the review of clinical performance assessments, recommends process improvements, implements performance improvement policies, and assists with budget information and inventory levels.
