About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology and applicable certification in the state of employment.
• Active, valid certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• At least six months of medical assistant experience, with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose solutions.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with people tactfully and professionally.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, including HIPAA and PHI, in accordance with laws and company policies.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Teamwork skills and ability to maintain working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
• Willingness to participate in required initial and ongoing training.
• Ability to obtain required Medical Support Specialist certifications, including drug screen collection, breath alcohol certification, and hair and oral fluids collection.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to enter data into various systems and applications.

• Prior medical office, healthcare, and/or customer service-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures, explain the process, position patients, and monitor their safety and comfort during x-ray examinations.
• Operate radiologic equipment and perform x-rays according to examination specifications, established requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Use radiation safety measures and protection devices for patients and team members.
• Maintain radiologic equipment, including calibration, quality assurance and quality control procedures, and records; report malfunctions.
• Follow radiology workflows and ensure reports cross correctly to the electronic medical record; complete required patient documentation.
• Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for physical examinations and perform vital signs and requested ancillary testing, including vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiograms, and respirator fit testing, in accordance with state regulations.
• Perform rapid screening tests, including influenza, strep, mono, and glucose tests.
• Assist providers during examinations and treatment; perform routine procedures as ordered and triage emergent patients as needed.
• Prepare and assist clinicians with procedure setup and injury care; apply ordered bandages, dressings, and splints.
• Dispense medications and durable medical equipment as ordered and in accordance with state regulations.
• Complete quality assurance activities on equipment, medical devices, and testing processes.
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, stock exam rooms, and keep the facility neat and orderly.
• Maintain and operate medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping; notify a supervisor of malfunctions, supply needs, or facility issues.
• Assist with patient flow and volume, and keep patients informed about expected wait times.
• Perform front- and back-office clerical tasks, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check-in and check-out, answering a multi-line telephone system, and distributing employer results or paperwork.
• Ensure accurate documentation and follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
• Attend staff meetings or huddles as required and complete applicable training, including monthly clinical competency training.
• Obtain required Medical Support Specialist certifications, including drug screen collection, breath alcohol certification, and hair and oral fluids collection.
