About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist & Medical Support Specialist performs routine x-ray examinations in accordance with Concentra policies, procedures, and applicable regulations under the direct supervision of the treating clinician. The role also supports other areas of the facility and provides efficient, accurate one-on-one patient care in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on clinical quality and a positive patient experience. Radiologic duties include preparing and positioning patients for x-ray procedures, operating radiologic equipment, following radiation safety measures, maintaining and checking equipment, ensuring radiology workflows and reports are handled correctly, and completing required documentation. Medical support duties include drug and alcohol testing, preparing patients for examinations and ancillary testing, performing rapid screening tests and routine medical procedures, assisting clinicians, providing injury care, maintaining supplies and equipment, supporting patient flow, performing front- and back-office clerical tasks, and following HIPAA and safety requirements. Duties may change at any time and are not limited to those listed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology and applicable certification in the state of employment.
Active, valid certification and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
CPR/First Aid certification.
At least six months of medical assistant experience, with knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
Ability to make decisions and solve problems using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose solutions.
Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with people tactfully and professionally.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, including HIPAA and PHI, in accordance with laws and company policies.
Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
Teamwork skills and ability to maintain working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
Willingness to participate in required initial and ongoing training.
Ability to obtain required Medical Support Specialist certifications, including drug screen collection, breath alcohol certification, and hair and oral fluids collection.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to enter data into various systems and applications.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for radiologic procedures, explain the process, position patients, and monitor their safety and comfort during x-ray examinations.
Operate radiologic equipment and perform x-rays according to examination specifications, established requirements, and applicable regulations.
Use radiation safety measures and protection devices for patients and team members.
Maintain radiologic equipment, including calibration, quality assurance and quality control procedures, and records; report malfunctions.
Follow radiology workflows and ensure reports cross correctly to the electronic medical record; complete required patient documentation.
Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Prepare patients for physical examinations and perform vital signs and requested ancillary testing, including vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiograms, and respirator fit testing, in accordance with state regulations.
Perform rapid screening tests, including influenza, strep, mono, and glucose tests.
Assist providers during examinations and treatment; perform routine procedures as ordered and triage emergent patients as needed.
Prepare and assist clinicians with procedure setup and injury care; apply ordered bandages, dressings, and splints.
Dispense medications and durable medical equipment as ordered and in accordance with state regulations.
Complete quality assurance activities on equipment, medical devices, and testing processes.
Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, stock exam rooms, and keep the facility neat and orderly.
Maintain and operate medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping; notify a supervisor of malfunctions, supply needs, or facility issues.
Assist with patient flow and volume, and keep patients informed about expected wait times.
Perform front- and back-office clerical tasks, including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check-in and check-out, answering a multi-line telephone system, and distributing employer results or paperwork.
Ensure accurate documentation and follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
Attend staff meetings or huddles as required and complete applicable training, including monthly clinical competency training.
Obtain required Medical Support Specialist certifications, including drug screen collection, breath alcohol certification, and hair and oral fluids collection.
