As a Mechanical QCx Engineer, you will be responsible for executing and maintaining mechanical quality assurance and quality control activities on a semiconductor construction project. This role ensures that all mechanical systems are installed, tested, and documented in compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements prior to commissioning and turnover. You will work closely with construction, commissioning, and project teams to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality system delivery in a mission-critical environment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including piping, HVAC, chilled water, heating water, cooling towers, and process utilities
  • Experience in mission-critical environments preferred (semiconductor, data centers, pharmaceutical, or industrial facilities)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings including P&IDs, isometrics, fabrication drawings, and specifications
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation practices, welding processes, and pressure testing procedures
  • Experience performing or witnessing mechanical testing activities such as pressure testing, flushing, and system validation
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with ability to manage QA/QC records and turnover packages
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to coordinate across multiple trades and stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify installation defects and non-conformance issues
  • Experience working in fast-paced construction environments with multiple contractors and disciplines
  • OSHA 10 Certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Relevant trade or field experience strongly considered in place of degree
  • Additional mechanical QA/QC or commissioning certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the project-specific Mechanical QA/QC plan in alignment with client specifications, ASME, AWS, and applicable local codes
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, fabrication drawings, and installation documentation for compliance prior to construction
  • Prepare, implement, and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for mechanical systems including piping, HVAC, and process utilities
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of mechanical installations including piping systems, HVAC systems, and mechanical equipment
  • Witness and document pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and other mechanical pre-commissioning activities
  • Support commissioning activities including system walkdowns, pre-functional checks, functional testing, and redline verification
  • Verify material certificates, traceability, and compliance against approved submittals and project specifications
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of mechanical and piping materials
  • Track, manage, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), deficiencies, and punch list items
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, test records, and turnover packages
  • Coordinate daily with contractors, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders to resolve mechanical quality issues
  • Participate in quality meetings, progress reviews, system turnover discussions, and project audits
  • Deliver toolbox talks and provide guidance on mechanical quality standards, welding, and piping best practices
  • Support startup and handover activities to facility operations teams
  • Assist in compiling O&M manuals, as-built documentation, and lessons-learned reports for project closeout
  • Ensure calibration and certification of mechanical inspection tools and equipment
