About The Position

The Director of Pharmacy leads all aspects of pharmacy operations at a single hospital, including planning, organizing, and supervising services in accordance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. The role collaborates with hospital leadership to implement innovative pharmacy practices, with support from CPS software and teams of operations, clinical, and regulatory experts, as well as a CPS Area Director or Senior Vice President. This is a full-time, exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree.
  • Current Illinois Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • At least 2 years of acute hospital experience or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of pharmacy management experience working in a critical access hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within a single hospital, aligning operations with clinical, quality, and financial goals.
  • Ensure safe, effective, evidence-based medication use by overseeing clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and formulary management.
  • Lead, develop, and hold pharmacy leaders and staff accountable, including managers, pharmacists, technicians, and support teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, USP, BOP, and state and federal laws.
  • Oversee pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders to support system-wide patient care, quality, and safety initiatives.
  • Drive innovation, performance improvement, and strategic growth using data, technology, and best practices to advance pharmacy services.
