About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited program by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Nice To Haves

• Doctor of Pharmacy highly preferred
• Strong clinical skill is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Comply with agency policies and procedures as well as program specific procedures and protocols.
• Standard pharmacist duties to include prescription intake, verification and patient counseling.
• Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration
• Advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications.
• Evaluate appropriateness of prescription orders with consideration for patient safety and legal requirements.
• Performs drug utilization reviews (DUR’s) and document interventions.
• Prior authorization management working specifically with the pre-approval process of filling prescribed medication orders to ensure the proper insurance coverage and efficacy for the drugs used.
• Monitors the health and progress of patients in response to drug therapy.
• Advise patients and answer questions about prescription drugs, including questions about possible side effects and interactions among different drugs.
• Provides information and make recommendations about over-the-counter drugs.
• Give advice about diet, exercise, or stress management.
• Advises patients about durable medical equipment and home healthcare supplies.
• Manage workflow process and supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance with all standards of care to include data entry and preparation of medications and work plans.
• Demonstrate ability to set priorities and work cooperatively with others within and outside the department.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
• Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by appropriate management.
