About The Position

This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot/operator position. The RPO plays the role of pilots and other controllers in an air traffic controller training simulator. Using a simulated radar display and voice communication system, the RPO simulates the actions and communications of pilots and remote air traffic control facilities during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. RPOs receive voice commands from students, enter appropriate information into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, interpret displayed information using appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to students over the voice communication system using proper phraseology. The selected candidate must complete classroom certification, including passing a test on airspace and procedures, and laboratory certification, demonstrating performance as an RPO on all positions.
