About The Position
The Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato General Surgery/Trauma Department is hiring for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner. The current practice consists of 5 General Surgeons, including trauma, bariatric, and colorectal surgeons as well as 5 NP/PA’s. Due to relocation, the practice is looking to replace a PA/NP to maintain practice standards. The role would be include operative first assist, inpatient management, and ambulatory care patient responsibilities. During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP or ACNP.
- Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
- Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date required.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years' experience preferred.
- Previous first assist experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Patient evaluations, such as, consultations and post-surgical care
- Functioning as first assist in the operating room
- Acute management of patients during level red trauma activations
- Ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests
- Formulating a diagnostic impression
- Developing and implementing a treatment plan
- Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies
- Operative first assist
- Inpatient management
- Ambulatory care patient responsibilities
