About The Position

Requirements

• Completion of a Physician Assistant program or equivalent program certificate.
• At least 1 year of appropriate clinical experience.
• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in the state where the team member works.
• BLS certification.
• Prescriptive authority for the state where the team member works.
• Controlled Substance license for the state where the team member works and a Federal DEA license.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program or an approved Surgical Physician Assistant graduate program may be accepted in lieu of the listed minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide general surgical assistant services in the operating room.
• Assist the surgeon with preparation and remain through completion of procedures.
• Remove drains, tubes, and catheters.
• Close incisions.
• Assist with patient office visits and assume call when assigned.
• Complete charting, summaries, correspondence, and required paperwork to document care and support billing.
• Participate in employer-provided physician education programs concerning capitated medicine and its implications for physician practice patterns.
• Participate in establishing quality assurance and utilization management programs; selecting management information systems; and developing patient education and satisfaction surveys.
• Assist in developing operational and capital budgets.
• Participate in operational assessments to identify revenue enhancement, expense reductions, consolidation efficiencies, and billing opportunities.
• Assist with postoperative patient care, including daily rounds and wound assessments.
