This role involves taking medical histories, examining patients, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications. Responsibilities also include clinically managing injuries through suturing, splinting, and immobilizing, attending to medical emergencies, and performing minor surgery with local anesthesia. The practitioner will record progress notes, recommend outside consultations, provide patient instruction and counseling, and order or carry out therapy. Emergency consultation is required when deemed necessary.
