About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• Minimum two years experience in labor and delivery clinical nursing required.
• Minimum one year experience in ambulatory obstetrical setting required.
• Minimum one year of the required experience shall have been in providing nursing care for patients with the disease(s) or related condition(s) for which the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Diagnostic and Treatment Center is established.
• Able to read.

• Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.

• California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Provide developmentally appropriate and age-specific direct and indirect patient care and treatment management in the outpatient setting.
• Coordinate and oversee the flow of patient appointments during daily operations.
• Serve as a resource to high-risk obstetrical patients and to referring and consulting physicians.
• Utilize disease-specific knowledge base and the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) to provide whole person care in the outpatient environment.
• Ensure continuity of care across the continuum by coordinating and case managing the high risk pregnant patient, e.g., pre-admission and post hospitalization.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members and participate in team conferences to coordinate implementation of treatment plan recommendations, scheduling appointments, etc.
• Utilize interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism.
• Contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population.
• Carry out research protocols for perinatal and maternal-fetal medicine.
• Perform other duties as needed.
