About The Position

Radiology Associates of Hartford is Central Connecticut’s premier radiology group, with nearly 50 years of experience building trust with patients and physicians. Our practice has expanded to five outpatient imaging centers, offering unparalleled growth opportunities with a nationally accredited team of experts in radiology. This role is responsible for performing routine and specialized MRI and radiographic procedures and examinations for radiological diagnosis. The technologist must accurately interpret physician scanning instructions, routine procedural protocols, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate MR equipment and associated software, and position patients to capture appropriate images. They will maintain communication with radiologists, physicians, patients, families, and others, and document all patient-related information in the radiology information system in a timely manner. The role also involves performing quality control and reporting tasks, setting up and conducting MRI procedures, maintaining schedules, assisting radiologists, and contributing to the efficient operation of the department to ensure quality and continuity of patient care. Screening patients, employees, and visitors to maintain a magnetically safe environment according to American College of Radiology standards is also a key responsibility. The technologist will acquire patient chart data/requisition, review both to determine correct room set-up, identify specific medical problems and contraindications, and verify that the ordered study correlates to diagnostic needs. Educating patients regarding the procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety is required. This position provides coverage as needed (e.g., in the event of call-offs or extended patient schedules) and provides instruction/mentoring to new hires. The role requires continuous learning of new technical information and skills through in-service programs and professional affiliation programs.

Requirements

  • Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR).
  • Connecticut Radiographer License.
  • Two years of MRI technologist experience.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), MRI certification required within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine and specialized MRI and radiographic procedures and examinations for radiological diagnosis.

  • Providing coverage as needed (i.e., in the event of call off or extended patient schedules).
  • Providing instruction/mentoring to new hires.
  • Continuously striving to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation programs.
