About The Position

Requirements

• Three years of radiology experience.
• Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
• MR-ARRT certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or ARMRIT certification from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists.
• Basic Life Support and understanding of medical terminology are required.
• Successful demonstration of professional fundamental competencies.
• Broad knowledge of MRI physics and procedures, including MRI principles appropriate for ages 0 through adulthood.
• Demonstrated ability to scan patients independently according to established protocols.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• R-AART preferred.
• CMRT certification from the Texas Medical Board preferred.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
• Bilingual skills preferable.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized radiographic procedures at the request of a licensed independent practitioner for interpretation by radiologists.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and continually assess professional performance.
• Maintain a safe and hazard-free environment.
• Provide patient care and appropriate documentation, and contribute to quality control and quality improvement.
• Train, educate, and mentor students, technologists, nursing staff, residents, fellows, staff, and others.
• Operate required equipment and troubleshoot it when necessary, including automated processors, film copying/digitizing equipment, RIS, and PACS.
• Independently scan patients by following established protocols.
• Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to obtain diagnostic information and recognize patient conditions relevant to procedure completion.
• Maintain and enhance knowledge of MRI safety and protection for self, patients, and others.
• Apply detailed knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Act as a liaison between patients, radiologists, and other support-team members.
• Maintain accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
• Prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with state regulations and institutional policy.
• Communicate courteously and supportively with patients, parents, nursing staff, faculty, administrative personnel, and departmental personnel to achieve excellent customer service and positive guest relations.
• Honor confidentiality and utilize basic office equipment.
