About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, is recruiting a Licensed Psychologist at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level for a full academic medicine faculty position at Froedtert Hospital, an Adult Level I Trauma Center. The role integrates clinical care, teaching and mentorship, and independent research. Clinical responsibilities include biopsychosocial assessment and evidence-based treatment for patients with traumatic injuries admitted to the trauma or acute care surgery services, both inpatient and in an outpatient trauma psychology clinic. The position is part of a multidisciplinary post-discharge care program for firearm and other violently injured patients, recently extended to a formal Trauma Recovery Center model. The position is not specifically based in the Milwaukee Trauma Recovery Center, though the faculty member may contribute to its clinical, training, or research work based on their interests. The faculty member will supervise and mentor trainees and develop an independent, extramurally funded research program complementing the Milwaukee Trauma Outcomes Project and the broader research portfolio of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. The division’s research includes a multi-institutional, NIH-funded collaborative studying mechanisms of PTSD and depression after injury and early interventions. The role also contributes to patient-centered care, quality and safety, and the academic, research, and educational missions of MCW.

  • Advance the academic, research, and educational missions of the institution.
  • Potentially contribute to the clinical, training, or research work of the Milwaukee Trauma Recovery Center, based on the candidate’s interests.
