About The Position
Huntsville Hospital Urgent Care is looking for experienced Medical Assistants to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients in urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings. Responsibilities include initial evaluations, x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation by recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for appropriate intervention.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification
Nice To Haves
- Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
- Experience performing X-Rays is desirable
Responsibilities
- Greet patients promptly and provide clear communication about next steps and wait times
- Offer solutions to patient concerns and seek help in emergent or hazardous situations
- Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; execute follow-up calls with urgency
- Support front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed
- Accurately document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details
- Assist with patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision
- Prepare and shoot X-Rays, ensuring proper positioning, safety, radiation protection, and shielding
- Complete all required visit documentation and maintain stocked, clean exam rooms
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards
- Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed
