About The Position

Requirements

• Experience setting up and operating manual machining equipment.
• Strong understanding of manual machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and setups.
• Ability to read blueprints and work to tight dimensional tolerances.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining challenges.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet applicable U.S. citizenship requirements for defense-related work.

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience with horizontal boring mills is strongly preferred.
• Background operating large manual milling machines, Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, or similar equipment will be considered.
• Experience machining large or heavy metal components is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual horizontal boring and milling machines to produce precision components.
• Independently select tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, and machining methods based on drawings and job requirements.
• Perform boring, counterboring, drilling, tapping, reaming, milling, and facing operations.
• Machine components to tight tolerances, including ±0.0005 inches.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process documentation.
• Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and precision gauges.
• Set up and secure large workpieces using clamps, fixtures, hoists, and overhead cranes.
• Troubleshoot machining issues, make adjustments, and perform rework or repairs as needed.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment while meeting production and quality requirements.
